Services for Howell S. McCreary, 66, of Gaines and formerly of Palestine, will be at 10:30 a.m. Sturday at Westminister Presbyterian Church of Gainesville with the Rev. Don Darling and Dr. Lawrence D. Burks officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Montalba under the direction of Geo J. Carroll & Sons.  Mr. McCreary died Wednesday at Gainesville Memorial Hospital.  He was born December 19, 1932 in San Angelo to Howell S. and Ola Bostic McCreary.

Mr. McCreary moved with his family to Palestine at an early age.  He was reared in Palestine and was salutatorian of the Palestine High School Class of 1950.  He graduated from University of Texas Southwestern MedicalSchool in 1958.  He served his internship and residency from 1959 – 1963 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  He was preceded in death by brother, Charles McCreary.

He is survived by his wife, Rita McCreary of Gainesville; daughter, Stephanie McCreary of Tyler and Heather McCreary of Denton; son, Martin McCreary of Fort Worth; sister, Ava Hogan of Elkhart.

Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
