Services for Emerson L. Hilton, 77, of Palestine, were at 2 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Biggerstaff and Michael Moore officiating.  Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery with Masonic rites.  Mr. Hilton died Sunday at his home.  He was born October  8, 1913 in Dayton, Ohio to Jasper Nelson and Virginia Brock Hilton.  He began working in plant operations for Getty Oil Co. in 1942 and retired in October, 1978 after 36 years.

He graduated from Palestine High School in 1932.  He was a member of Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31 AF&AM, a York Rite Mason, past Master of the Beeville Masonic Lodge and a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 137.  He was a member of the Palestine chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Lost Prairie Lake Club.  He was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church.   He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris H. Kiser, in July 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Clayton L. Hilton or Palestine; daughter, Carolyn Moore of Lohn; son, Bill Hilton of Victoria; brother, Howard Hilton of Palestine; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers wil be men of Lone Pine Baptist Church and members of Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31.
