Masonic graveside services for Milford E. Groves, 80, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of  Herrington  / Land of Memory.

Mr. Groves died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.  He was born January 15, 1910, in Jefferson, MO., to John T. and Edna Groves.  Mr. Groves was an engineer for Missouri-Pacific Railroad for 35 years, and a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Palestine High School, where he played football.

He is survived by a daughter, Doris Herrington of Palestine; a nephew, John Howard Groves of Houston; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and fine great-great-grandchildren.

Condolence calls will be received from 7 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Farris, A.D. Hoppers, Y.B. Walston, Lacy Adams and Rush Herrington.
