Memorial services for Lottie Mae Johnston, 90. of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Philips Episcopal Church with Rev. Mike Glenn officiating with burial in Roselawn Park Cemetery, Palestine, Texas.   Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.  Mrs. Johnston died Wednesday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.  She was born in Palestine on April 7, 1905 to Thomas Leroy “Greyhorse” and Mae Cook Griffith.

Mrs. Johnston was a past member of Harvey Women’s club, Acorn Club and Guion Music Club.  She was an active book reviewer for many clubs in Palestine.  She was an organist for Sunday noon meals at Sadler’s Restaurant, Days Inn and Ramada Inn.  She also was program chairwoman for 25 years at Palestine Organ Club and an active member of St. Philips Episcopal Church.

She married Walter Edgar Johnston September 16, 1925 and he preceded her in death in 1955.

She is survived by a son, Walter Leroy Johnston; sisters, Vivian Selman of Houston, Gladys Griffity of Palestine, Fay Holden of Odessa and Ruby Gilmore of San Antonio; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 400 N. Queen, Suite 102, Palestine, or The American Red Cross, 917 S. Magnolia Street, Palestine.
