Masonic graveside services for Philip Hemby Gray Sr., 87, of Palestine, Texas will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. Mr. Gray died July 8, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born April 27, 1921, in Tyler to Paxton H. and Eva Adams Gray. Philip and Lula Bennett were married July 19, 1945.
Mr. Gray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had lived in Palestine all his life and was a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church. Mr. Gray was a retired car salesman and owner/operator of Philip Gray Chevrolet in Oakwood for many years. He was a Scottish Rite and Shriner and a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lula Fae Bennett Gray; and son, Philip H. “Bubba” Gray Jr.
Mr. Gray is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Wier and husband Ronny of Palestine; four grandchildren, Michael Hays and wife Erin of Frankston, Matt Hays and wife Sondra of Elkhart, Alisa Folsom and husband Terry of Buffalo, and Brandon Wier of Buffalo; eight great-grandchildren, Aryn, Madelon, Regan, Allie, Jacob, and Mallori Hays, and Seth and Landon Folsom.
