Services for former Palestine resident John Mark Herrington, 32 of Dallas will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel East, Hillcrest Park in Dallas and at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Palestine with Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Private interment will be in Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Herrington died Monday in Dallas following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 10, 1954 in Palestine, the son of Harry C. and Beatrice Jones Herrington. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1972 and Texas A&M University where he was a Cadet First Sergeant of the Aggie Band.
Mr. Herrington served as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1970. He attended North Texas State University for the past two years and was working on a master’s degree in gerontology. He was a member of First Christian Church of Palestine. He was preceded in death by his mother, who died in March, 1984.
Survivors include his father; brothers, Major David E. Herrington of Fort Bragg, N.C. and Paul Herrington of Palestine; and a sister, Martha H. Conner of Palestine.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
