Hazel Kojack Elfarr Condos 1927

Services for Hazel Condos, 82, of Palestine and one of the original owners of the Jay Shop will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Philip’s Espicopal church with the Rev. David W. Price officiating.  Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.  Mrs. Condos died Frieday in her home following a lengthy illness.  She was born July 31, 1910, in Lebanon to Deeb “Wolf” and Emma Nassralla Kojack.

She and her family moved to Palestine when she was 2 years old.  She attended the Palestine public schools and was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and St. Mary’s Guild of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.  She was a former member of XI Gamma Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.  She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 395, Palestine.  She was co-owner and had been associated with the Jay Shop Ready to Wear for 64 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ann Kojack Burton, and a brother, Albert Kojack.  She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Alex Elfarr in 1934 and William T. “Bill” Condos in 1954.

She is survived by her son, Johnnie Elfarr of Palestine; sisters, Mary Kojack of Tripoli, Lebanon, Mrs William (Janie) George Sr., of Palestine. Mrs. Abdullah (Pauline) Habeeb of Houston, and Mrs. Pete (Lulu) Arage of Victoria; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery George, Jimmy Adage, Frank George Jr., Jesse George Jr., David George, Randy George, Edward Smith and Andy Totah.

The family requests memorials be made to the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 940, Palestine, Texas, 75801.

The family will receive condolence calls from 6 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
