Services for Bennie E. Campbell 65, of San Antonio will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tennessee Colony church with the Rev. Roger Butler officiating. Burial will be at Tennessee Colony Cemetery with members of Tennessee cColony Tyre Lodge No. 198 AF & AM conducting the service and serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Campbell died Saturday at Wilford Hall Hospital at Lackland Air Force Base.
He was born October 2, 1922 in Tennessee Colony, a son of Claude Henry and Maggie Bell Campbell. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the European Theater of Operations and in Japan. He was a member of First Christian Church in San Antonio and Tyre Lodge No. 198 AF & AM of Tennessee colony. He was employed for 10 years as a civil service employee of the U.S. Navy in Kingsville.
Survivors include his wife, Ardith McCray Campbell of San Antonio; daughters, Brooke Dixon of O’Fallon, IL and Ellen Arce of Ssan Jose, DA; son, Curtis Campbell of San Antonio; sisters, Ruby Woolverton of Tennessee Colony, Hazel Vaughn of Austin and Nell Hargrove of Mont Pleasant; brothers J. Wayne Campbell of Midland and Woodrow Campbell of Denver, CO; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be H.R. Hudson, J.A. Winkel, Jack Thornton, Joe Satterwhite, Jack Williams and Elmer Alford.
