Services for Jimmie L. Bassett, 57, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Broyles Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Bassett died Thursday at Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Anderson County on December 13, 1935, to Ed H. and Lydia Bell Lewis Bassett.  He worked as a machine operator in auto parts manufacturing.  He also had worked for Knox Glass Co., Murray Corp, and Missouri Pacific Railroad.  Mr. Massett was a Baptist.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and David Bassett.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Bassett of Prairieland; sons, Eddie Ray of Spring and Bobby Ray of Waco; sisters, Betty Warren of Palestine, Margaret Stafford of Frnakston, Mildred Bailey of Mabank and Frances Thompson of Spring; brother, Joe M. Bassett of Palestine; and four grandchildren.
