Services for Carolyn George Hargis 73, of Palestine will be at 1:30 P.M. Sunday at First Christian Church with Dr. Tom Rousseau officiating.  Burial will be in Palestine City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hargis died Wednesday at her home.  She was born April 20, 1929 in Palestine to Warren and Rosa Lee Kennerly George.

Mrs. Hargis was a retired elementary school music teacher from the West Orange-Cove School District in Orange. She was a member of Harvey Woman’s Club, Friends of the Howard House, Guion Music Club and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She was choir director and member of the First Christian Church.  Mrs. Hargis was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, David B. Hargis, Jr.

She is survived by daughters, Rebecca Taylor and Sylvia “Sissy” Willey, both of Orange; son, Warren George Hargis and wife Patsy of Sylva, N.C.; stepsons, David Allen Hargis and wife Joanna of Keller and Charles Edwin Hargis and wife Joanna of Keller and Charles Edwin Hargis and wife Vicki of San Diego, CA.; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
