Services for Billie Jo Mitchell, 78, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Evangelistic Temple with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Mitchell passed away Friday at her residence.
She was born Sept. 5, 1931 in Palestine, to Jim Shaw and Bertha McBee Davis. She worked in the garment factory for many years, and also worked in the lunch room at Westwood High School for many years. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Haskell “Hap” Mitchell; brothers, Lee Davis, Wilbur Davis, J.C. Davis and Willard Davis; sisters, Lydia McInnis and Reba Basham.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele Mettlen and husband Charles of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Melissa Crutcher and husband David of Palestine; one son, Darrell Mitchell and wife Tammy of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, Cody Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, Meagan Mettlen, Kristin Mettlen, Ashlyn Mettlen, D.J. Crutcher, Kasey Crutcher, Alyssa Crutcher and Mitchell Crutcher; four great grandchildren, Serenity A. Crutcher, Daeanara Crutcher, Blake Mitchell and Riddick Crutcher.
Pallbearers will be Cody Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, Kasey Crutcher, Ron Davis, Bob Davis and Wayne McInnis.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster.
