Graveside services for Jean Williams, 86, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Palestine City Cemetery with the Rev. Don Dennis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Dallas to Charlie and Ava Walker. She went to meet her Lord on June 5, 2010.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Red” Williams: sisters, Maureen Bower and Betty Carnathan; and brothers, Charles Walker Jr. and Jack Walker.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Gary A. Williams and wife, Donna Madewell Williams of Palestine; granddaughters, Ashley Williams of Tyler, Laura Kolstad-Blanchard of Austin, Julie Fletcher Lovelady of Tennessee Colony and Wayne Fletcher of Palestine; and a sister, Cheryl “Sug” Douglas of Bay City.
Mrs. Williams was a 1942 graduate of Palestine High School and later Nixon Business School. She worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad until her marriage in 1947.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Fletcher, Chad Lovelady, David French, William D. “Bill” Brown, Dudley Vickers, Joe Ed Johnston and Norman Henson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Newell Braley, C.C. Clifton, Chubby Alford, Curley Garner and George Patton.
The family will receive condolences from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cartmell Home for the Aged or First Christian Church of Palestine.
