Funeral services for Darwin “Dib” Link 86 of Tennessee Colony, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel Palestine with Dr. Pete Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
Mr. Link passed away Tuesday August 17, 2010, in the David E. Foster Hospice Unit/PRMC. He was born December 11, 1923 in Anderson County to Nelson Lee Link and Inez Russell Link. Mr. Link graduated from Palestine High School in 1940 and Sam Houston State University in 1944. He retired from Enron after 40 years of service as a gas storage manager at the Bammel Storage Plant. He lived in Bammel for over 50 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tennessee Colony, #198 and Southside Baptist Church of Palestine. The most important things in his life were family and work. He was a loving husband for 65 years, father, grandfather and Gi Gi Pop. Mr. Link was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Allan Lamar Link and Judge N.R. Link.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Joan Bryan Link of Tennessee Colony, two sons Mike Link and wife Virginia and Darwin Bryan Link and wife Bonnie H. all of Tennessee Colony, sister Wanda Schulze and husband Ed of Conroe, and brother-in-law and wife, James and Mickey Bryan of Waco, grandchildren; James Travis Link and wife Sarah of Montgomery, Paul Allan Link and wife Kelly of Dallas, David Lee Link and wife Johanna of Tennessee Colony, Caryl McBroom and husband Clifford of Vidor, Karyn Curtis and husband Robert of Georgetown, Krystal Garza and husband Gabriel of Pearland and ten great grandchildren; Cheyann and Haden McBroom, Reagan and Reese Link, Kamryn Curtis, Abram Link, Hunter and Kendahl Link, Emma and Holden Garza, also many nephews and nieces and a special friend La Tasha Watts.
Pallbearers will be James Travis Link, David Lee Link, Paul Allan Link, Clifford McBroom, Robert Curtis and Gabriel Garza. Honorary pallbearers will be Caryl McBroom, Karyn Curtis and Krystal Garza.
Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Bailey & Foster. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys and Girls Town, P.O.
