Funeral services for Wallace Cretsinger 88 of Elkhart, will be 10:00 AM Monday at Broyles Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Reagan and Bryon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Broyles Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
Mr. Cretsinger passed away Wednesday at Cartmell home for Aged. He was born August 22, 1920 in Anderson County to Earl and Gertrude Wallace Cretsinger. He was a member of Broyles Chapel Baptist Church and served with the Air Force during WWII. He was formerly employed by Glass Container as plant engineer and was a cattle rancher. Mr. Cretsinger was a charter member with the Westside Volunteer Fire Department.
He married the love of his life Dorothy Knight April 11, 1946 and they were married sixty-three years. Mr. Cretsinger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Knight Cretsinger, sister June Shaver, brother Billy Cretsinger and granddaughter Heather Mays.
He is survived by daughter Elaine Ward- Blanchard and husband Marty of Brazoria, son Bob Cretsinger and wife Cindy of Elkhart, grandsons: Stephen Ward, Richard Ward and wife Brandie, Heath Mays and wife Stevi, Eric Cretsinger and Jeremy Cretsinger; great-grandsons: Kyler Ward, Gavin Ward, Taylor Scott, Maddix Mays and Corbyn Moore; great-granddaughters: Zoe Cretsinger, Presleigh Mays and Peightyn Mays; two sister-in-laws, Virginia Cretsinger and Lou Knight.
Pallbearers will be Richard Ward, Butch Travis, Gary Jones, Heath Mays, Danny Mays, Marlin Cretsinger and Phillip Cretsinger. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Ward and Teddy Ward.
Condolence calls will be received 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
