Services for Dave M. Schmidt, 81, will be today at 3 p.m. in Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating.  Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt died Friday morning in Park Place Nursing Home.  He was born January 9, 1905 in Palestine, son of George and Mattie McDonald Schmidt.  Prior to retiring, Mr. Schmidt was owner and operator of the Schmidt Hardware Company.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and also a member and past president of the Palestine Kiwanis Club with 37 years perfect attendance.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Schmidt; daughters, Pat Haney of Dallas and Virginia Barrett of Dallas; son, Dave Schmidt, Jr. of Austin; brother, Alvin Schmidt of Palestine and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Frank Kollatt, Joe Reed, Jack Williams, O.L. Williams, Buck Crutcher, Roy Ward and Arland G. Skidmore.
