George Thomas Rogers 1956
George Thomas Rogers, of Mart, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at his home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Mart Cemetery with Sam Ed Lewis officiating.
On Nov. 24, 1937, Mr. Rogers was born in San Antonio to Louie Alvie Rogers and Georgia Mae Lee Rogers. He spent much of his childhood in Palestine, Texas, where he graduated from Palestine High School in 1956. A very gifted athlete, he excelled as a football, basketball, and baseball player in both high school and college. He had been employed in landscaping and security work. During the 1960s and 1970s he lived in the St. Louis, Mo., area. Since the early 1980s he had lived in the Waco and Mart areas. He was a Baptist.
His survivors include his brother, Richard Lee Rogers of Huber Springs, Ark.; his daughters, Kelli Allen of Leopold, Mo., and Deborah Rogers; and his grandchildren.
