Funeral services for Anne Elizabeth Smith will be held 1:00 PM Monday September 19th, at Bailey & Foster Chapel Palestine with Rev. Clinton Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. Mrs. Smith passed away Friday at her residence.
She was born March 19, 1922 in Palestine to Charles E. and Zula Byars Hunger. She worked for Murray Corporation. Mrs. Smith was a Pastor’s wife and was a charter member of The Evangelistic Temple. She was also a member of the Sunshine Guild and Rebecca Lodge, along with being a Sunday School Teacher, a Gray Lady with the Red Cross at the Palestine Memorial hospital and visited area nursing homes. She genuinely loved people. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Roland Smith and brother Marion Hunger.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Vivian and Cleveland Countryman of Palestine, nieces Julie lively and Jenny Lynn Edwards. Pallbearers will be Ernie Wolf, L.A. Seabourn, John Estes, David Wright, Dwight Munoz and L.D. Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Race and Wayne Turbyfill.
Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Bailey & Foster Palestine.
