Graveside services for Drew Davis, 50, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holly Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine

Mr. Davis died Friday August 4 in Palestine.

He was born February 12, 1956 in Palestine to Donald C. Davis and Maetta Herrington Cumby.

Mr. Davis lived the majority of his life in Palestine with a sabbatical to London where he pursued an interest in acting and writing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Upon his return, he completed a master’s degree in English at the University of Texas at Tyler. He enjoyed participating in many civic organizations and was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. His favorite role in life was that of a father.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his beloved son Granville Herrington Davis of Chicago, father Donald C. Davis of Palestine, sister Donna Ganster and husband Alan of Houston, niece Allison Faterkowski and husband Jason of Houston, nephew Andrew Ganster of Bryan, great nephew Landon Jason Faterkowski of Houston, and stepsisters Leslie Henson of Garland, Jamie Miller of Palestine and Marianna Cabler of Lewisville.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Mr. Davis to the Palestine Public Library.
