Services for Herman Jay Conaway, 51, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church on U.S. 84 East with the Revs. David Gregg and Todd Herod officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Conaway died Saturday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born September 25, 1951, in Palestine to Boyd Link Conaway and Erma Mable Collier Conaway.

Mr. Conaway was employed by the City of Palestine in the water treatment department. He was a member of United Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, James Fredrick Conaway.

Mr. Conaway is survived by his mother; sisters, Jean Smith of Palestine, Ann Prater of Gilmer, Mary Acker of Rusk, Jeanette Price of Las Vegas and Janice Smith of Chapel Hill; brothers, Charles Conaway and Gary Conaway, both of Palestine, and Walter Conaway of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Terry Evans, Richard Smith, Walter Matthews, Robert Sessions, David Burke and James Eddington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Socia, Rick Parker, Eddie Cooksey and Juan Sigalas.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
