Derrel Wayne Robertson, 51, of Ruidoso, N.M., died at his home on Wednesday, April 14, 2004, after a yearlong fight with an incurable illness.
Mr. Robertson was born February 28, 1953 in Anderson County, Texas. A graduate of Palestine High School, Mr. Robertson worked as young man at B&B Sporting Goods with the late Henry Bishop. Later he managed Payless Lumber Co. before moving to Southfork, Colo., and then to Ruidoso to continue his career in the building trades industry.
Mr. Robertson was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lana Lively Robertson. He leaves behind two children and two grandchildren, Christopher Derrel “Sonny” Robertson and his wife Jenna, and their children Jacob Cole and Stella June, and Tiffany Joy Robertson and her fiancee Corey Bean.
Mr. Robertson also leaves behind a mother and stepfather, Martha Turner Banks and James Banks Sr.; father and stepmother, D.K. Robertson and Bobbie Bishop Robertson; brothers, David Lee Robertson, Larry Foster, James Banks Jr. and Jay Banks; a sister, Yvonne Robertson Galloway; and father- and mother-in-law, Bill Lively Sr. and Joy Dust. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will miss him too.
All friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service for Derrel at Lone Pine Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on April 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
