Services for Louis A. Farris, Jr. 66 of Dallas, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating.  Burial followed in the Syrian Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Palestine Masonic Lodge.  Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Farris died Wednesday morning at his residence in Dallas.  He was born February 20, 1936, in Palestine to Louis Farris Sr. and Victoria Gani Farris.

Mr. Farris was reared in Paleste and attended Palestine High School where he was awarded an All-American Honorable Mention in football.  He attended Southern Methodist University on a full football scholarship and graduated in 1958.

He began his career with Farris & Co. and later formed Empire Financial Corporation with Clint Murchison, Jr.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the John L. Degrazier Lodge, a member of St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church and Ex-Letterman at SMU.  Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife Ricki Farris of Dallas; daughters, Angela Farris Schwartz and Margaret Farris, both of Dallas; son, Louis A. Farris III of Highlands Ranch, CO.; mother, Victoria of Palestine;  brothers, Richard Farris of Palestine, Bobby Farris of Dallas and Michael Farris of Aledo; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Matthew Farris, Michael Farris, Nick Farris, Paul Farris, Rick Farris and Robert Farris.
