Harold Curtis Pugh, 73, of Lufkin, was born June 8, 1936, in Tennessee Colony, Texas, the son of the late Reatha Christian and E.A. Pugh. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1954. He passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Castle Pine Health & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Pugh was a former long distance truck driver, and most of his time was spent on an offshore drilling rig as a tool pusher. He achieved a business degree from business school. He was a loving husband, a great father, a fine guitar player and was of the Baptist Faith. He lived in Lufkin for 32 years, and was married to a strong and kind-hearted woman for 31 years.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Callie Marie Pugh of Lufkin; son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Edward, Karen and Sophie Grace Oldham of Trevat, TX; daughter, Reatha Loggins of Hudson, TX; sisters Earnsten and husband Charles Gee of The Woodlands and Nancy and husband Jerry Pritchard of Tyler, TX. Mr. Pugh has extended family and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Edward Oldham, Elwin Derrberry, Walter Matthews, David Amerson, A.J. Elliott and Danny Elliott.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and many caregivers at Castle Pines and Hospice in the Pines for the care and comfort that was given to him through his stay at the facility. Many thanks.
Services for Mr. Pugh will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with John Boone officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon until service time at Gipson Funeral Home.
