Services for Leslie Harold “Bill” Wardell, 60 of Bois d’Arc, were at 10 a.m. today at the Wardell Family Cemetery near Bois d’Arc with the Rev. Mike Drinkard officiating.  Burial was under the direction Herrington Land of Memory.  Mr. Wardell died Tuesday at his home after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Bois d’Arc on April 17, 1935 to Milton Leo and Carrie Ezell Wardell.

Mr. Wardell had lived in Anderson County all of his life and was a graduate of Palestine High School.  He served four years in the U.S. Air force and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 after 31 years of service.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Imogene Adair.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna Jean Adair Wardell of Bois d’Arc; son, James Lee Wardell of Bois d’Arc; daughter Lee Jean Wardell of Bois d’Arc and brothers, L.C. Wardell and Coy Wardell both of Bois d’Arc.

Pallbearers were Jerry Richards, Leslie Wardell, Donnie Wardell, Michael Wayne Wardell, Robert Keith and Gerald Morris, Jr.

The family will receive condolences at the home of L.C. Wardell.
