Thomas J. Weldon 1954

05 / 22 / 1936  –  03 / 06 / 2006

Thomas James Weldon passed away on March 6, 2006 in Norman, OK after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer.  He was born in Mexia, TX on May 22, 1936; he would have been 70 years old today.  We are sorrowful that he is not here today to celebrate his birthday, but we are sure he is enjoying a pain-free day in heaven admiring our universe.

Tom was a most loving and devoted husband to Bonnie (Bonita), a proud and giving father to his sons and their wives, Tom and Kim Weldon and Joe and Kammie Weldon; his step-daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Jeff Hanska and Sharon and Richard Oldham; a doting grandfather to ten admiring grandchildren and one great-grandson.  He was also survived by his sister, J’Ann Luedke and family; his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. H.H. McDougal and many other loving family members.

Tom graduated from Baylor University, Waco, TX in 1959 and received a Masters Degree in 1966 from Cornell University, Ithica, NY.  He was an officer in the U.S. Navy for a number of years.  He was an exemplary educator and during his many years in education he was recognized and awarded many times for his commitment to the students and his innovative teaching methods.  Tom never met a stranger and always had time to listen to family and friends, especially children.  His passing leaves a tremendous void in our lives that was once filled with his love, his kindness, his wit and creativity and his never-ending devotion to each and every one of us.

The United States Navy will provide military services and burial at sea for him this summer off the coast of San Diego, CA.  For our Dad, Husband, Grandad, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin and Friend; you will be forever in our hearts.  Your Loving Family Published in The Oklahoman on 05/22/2006.

Burial:  Cremated, Ashes scattered at sea.

Specifically: Coast of San Diego, California
