Funeral services for George Roy Coleman, 24, of Palestine, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. D.P. Worsham officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Native of Palestine, Mr. Coleman was born January 24, 1939. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and graduated from Palestine High School in 1957. A graduate of Baylor University, he received his B.B.A. in May 1961, and had finished all requirements for a master’s degree with the exception of his thesis, on which he was working at the time he became ill.
He was a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary business fraternity. He died Sunday (August 11, 1963) at 4:15 p.m. in a Houston hospital following an illness of several months.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Linda Lively Coleman of Palestine; parents, Leroy and Elsie (Mason) Coleman of Palestine; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Coleman of Palestine, and the Rev. J.E. Mason of Downsville, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Maury Crow, Gerald Cain, Jon Gregg, John Roy Ousley, Albert Gallatin, Rayburn Moore, Jr., Richard Farris, and Dr. T.E. Walkup.
The body will be at Hassell and Foster Funeral Home until time for the service.
