Donald Edwin “Don Ed” Lewis of Houston passed away Monday, September 8th at the age of 66. A loving, compassionate and genuine man. Don Ed will be missed greatly on this earth by many loving family members and friends.
Don Ed was born in Palestine on March 29, 1937, where he and his family were active members of the First Baptist Church. Upon graduation from Palestine High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Texas to live and work in Houston.
Don Ed was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Edwin and Mary Davis Lewis; and his wife Anita Lewis.
He is survived by one son, Donald David Lewis and wife Donna, their two sons Tyler and Michael, all from Colorado; his fiancée, Marcy Hayden and her son Brian Fisher and his wife Sonia, all of Houston; life-long dear friend, David Joe Walton; and many more caring family members and friends throughout the United States. His great love of people, his warmth and his unique sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of many.
Visitation will be held at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy of First Baptist Church conducting the services.
Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Pallbearers will be Albert Neal, Tommy Neil, David Neal, David Joe Walton and Jack Mulligan.
