Services for John R. Yarbrough Jr., 65, of Runaway Bay, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Caskey officiating. Burial will follow in Muse Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Yarbrough died Tuesday at his residence. He was born December 5, 1938 in Anderson County to Mr. & Mrs. John Robinson Yarbrough.
Mr. Yarbrough graduated from Palestine High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a Baptist. He worked for the Palestine Police Department for 19 years and as an investigator for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his wife, Neva Fletcher Yarbrough of Runaway Bay; sons, John Yarbrough of Jacksonville, Tony Yarbrough of Houston and Craig Fletcher of Jacksonville; daughter, Cristi May of Lindale; six grandchildren; sisters, Johnnie Hinson of Grapeland and Dorothy Rothermel of Crockett; two nieces; and two nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ken Buchanan, Jessie Foster, Howard May, Max Threadgill, Donny Tucker and Marshall Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Smith and Johnny Foster.
Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
