Services for Virginia Doris Rutledge, 59, of Cleburne and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Cox officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory.
Mrs. Rutledge died Thursday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Walnut Springs on April 1, 1937, to William Walter and Geneva Florene Dellay Dean. She was a graduate of Palestine High School and had lived in Palestine most of her life. She had lived in Cleburne for the last four years.
Mrs. Rutledge was an insurance adviser and a member of Kings Highway Baptist Church in Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. “Red” Rutledge in January, 1993.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Pack; son, James Pedigo; daughters, Joni McDonnel and Jeri George; mother, Geneva Newland; and two grandchildren.
