Graveside services for Howard Ulysses Freeman, 70, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fort Houston Cemetery with Pastor Curtis James officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Freeman died Friday at Palestine Health Care.  He was born July 29, 1936 in Palestine to Howard and Bertha Lee Powell Freeman.  He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Dallas.  Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Freeman of Palestine; daughters, Jennifer Kandel and Mary Lee Pass, both of Dallas; a son, Howard U. Freeman of Webster Groves, Mo.; a sister, Beverly Turner of Irving; and eight grandchildren.
