Services for Hubert Austin “Buddy” McCreary, 70, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bois D’Arc Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Drinkard officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. McCreary passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab. Mr. McCreary was born April 26, 1937 in Bois D’Arc, Texas to Hubert and Selma Hickman McCreary.

He attended Montalba and Palestine High schools. He was in the feed and fertilizer business most of his life and loved to help his customers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry on December 30, 1999; and sister, Pauline.

He is survived by his wife, Neva, of more than 50 years; daughter, Diane Ater and husband Enes of Quitman; son, Jerry Don of Bois D’ Arc; grandson, Steven McCreary of Houston; great granddaughters, Ansley McCreary of Slocum and Alex McCreary of Palestine; brother, Donald McCreary of Bois D’ Arc; sisters, Louise Steadman of Longview, Lucille Larson, Juanita Strickland and Eunice Gaines, all of Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
