Services for Alfred Joseph “A.J.” Orr, Jr., 66, of Houston, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at  Roselawn Cemetery in Palestine with Dr. William Newcomb officiating.  Furial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Orr died Monday at his home after a lengthy illness.  A native of palestine, he was born February 15, 1929 to Alfred Joseph “Al” and on a Stewart Orr.  He had lived in Houston since he was a young man.

Mr. Orr founded A.J. Orr’s Laboratory, conducting corrosion testing for the oil and gas industry, in the late 1960’s.  He sold the business in 1989, but it still operates under his name.

Mr. Orr is survived by his wife, Vicky Miller Orr or Houston; and sister-in-law, Susan McDonald of Houston and Peggy Moore of Tyler.
