Funeral services for William Dee “Bill” Cobble, 72, of Rusk, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mr. Cobble died Friday in a Rusk hospital.  He was born October 28, 1935 in Waxahachie. Mr. Cobble was a resident of Rusk for 17 years, formerly of Palestine and Waxahachie. He retired in 1976 after 25 years at Knox Glass in Palestine.

He attended Palestine High School and served in the National Guard Army Reserves from Oct. 8, 1953 to Oct. 7, 1959. He was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. He owned and operated Babcock Bros. in Rusk for 14 years. Mr. Cobble also had an exterminating business while employed at Knox Glass.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Keith Cobble, and his parents, William and Ruby Ethyl Williams Cobble.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Cobble of Rusk; daughter, Brittany Hill Cobble Birdwell and husband Leslie of Rusk; son, Stephen Justin Cobble of Rusk; daughter and son-in-law, Tricia DeeAnn and Gilbert Torres of Fort Worth; son, Mark Dwayne Cobble of Palestine; granddaughter, Makinna DeeAnn Metheny of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Lindsey Brooke Torres of Fort Worth; grandson, Joel Collin Torres of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Kayla Collette of Palestine; grandson, Jacob Keith Cobble of Palestine; grandson, William Joe Cobble of Florida; granddaughter, Amanda Calkin of Tyler; Lamanda O’Neal of Palestine; three great-grandchildren, Anna Cobble of Florida, Andrew Cobble of Florida and KyAnn O’Neal of Palestine.

Pallbearers will include Deaton Goff, Gilbert Torres, Kenny Birdwell, David Sosby, Leslie Birdwell and Brandon Sosby. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Phillips, Billy Watson, Jimmy Ray Odom and Lonnie Barringer.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
