Services for Jim Magee, 68, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Norwood Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Mynatt officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Mr. Magee died Wednesday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

He was born August 8, 1936 in Palestine to W. D. and Grace Ward Magee.

Mr. Magee was a member of the Norwood Heights Baptist Church. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1954. Mr. Magee was employed with Glass Containers for 31 years and Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 10 years. He also was a rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Magee is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Collins Magee of Palestine; mother-in-law, Opal Collins of Palestine; sons, Gregg Magee and wife Janice of Palestine, and Eric Magee of Austin; two grandchildren, Jacob Magee and Cullen Magee, both of Palestine; sisters, Marie Burch of Mollala, OR and Sue Fraim and husband William of Blackfoot; brothers, George Magee and wife Lola of Montalba, M.L. “Bud” Magee and wife Bobbie of Normangee, Bill Magee and wife Becky of Eden.

Pallbearers will be Mark Magee, Scott Magee, Rand Magee, David Marino, Michael Bennett, Todd Staples and Cecil A. Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Staples, Bobby Rogers, Tommy Young, Jerry Harper, Charles Harper, Franklin Dentler, Billy Bennett, Billy Cannon and I.H. Lambright.
