Fellow officers and friends of Police Captain Jack A. Musick say he will surely be missed by the Police Department and the citizens of Palestine.

Musick, 54, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. He was a 20 year member of the Palestine Police Department.

“Musick was a man of great integrity and dedication to the police department,” said Police Chief J.D. Bryant. “He dedicated his life to serving the people and loved his city and the Police Department. The Palestine Police Department will surely miss his management expertise and we all feel that we have suffered a great loss.”

Musick was born December 26, 1934, in Palestine, a son of Virgil Owen and Stella Bell Woodard Musick. He served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the East Texas Peace Officers Association and Sheridan Terrace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Musick; his mother of Palestine; daughters, Melody Musick and Vickey Schulze, both of Dallas; a brother, Virgil Musick of Dallas; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Anita Perry, in 1984.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery in Grapeland.

In addition to Sinclair, pallbearers will be Rick Brooks, Rudy Ramirez, David Bailey, Rick Giles and Richard Farris.
