Services with military honors for Billie R. Spence, 63, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Dr. Betty Wilson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Mr. Spence died December 25, 1998 at Memorial Mother Frances Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1935, in Wichita Falls, to W.H. and Elsie Castle Spence

Mr. Spence served in the U.S. Navy in Korea and in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He was a member of the Palestine chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous, a life member of the J.W. Cantrell Chapter of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907. He had worked in the maintenance department for Palestine Independent School District.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Anna Dickey Spence, in 1977; son, James Eldon Ross, in 1983; and sister; Mary Northcutt, in 1996.

He is survived by a daughter, Jo Anna Dickson of Elkhart; son, Bill Spence Jr. of Palestine; sister, Margaret Anders of Fort Worth; brother, James Spence of Malakoff; four grandchildren.
