Ewell James Ivins, 75, of Nederland, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur.  Born April 23, 1936, to Alma Roe and Walter Wilford Ivins in Neches, Texas, he was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1955.

Ewell was owner of Mar-Well Lease service in the oil industry and worked every day up until his death.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking outdoors and riding with State Troopers, while on patrol.

Ewell is survey by his wife, Martha Ivins of Nederland; sons, Ewell Wayne Ivins and his wife, Lori of Georgetown and James Randle Ivins and his wife, Tammy of Mansfield; grandchildren, Justin Ivins, Brandon Ivins, Cody Ivins, Andrew Ivins, Caleb Ivins and Keegan Ivins; great grandchildren, Layton Ivins and Kylon Ivins; brother, HerbertIvins of New Orleans, LA and sister Wanda Porter and her husband, Charles of Houston.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Broussard’s, 5050 North 12th Street, Nederland.

A private family committal will be held at a later date.
