Funeral services for Connie Graser Calloway, 74, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery. Mrs. Calloway died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Anderson County to Herman W. and Louise Carroll Graser.
Mrs. Calloway had lived here all her life and was a 1952 graduate of Palestine High School. She was a realtor and builder and had served on the Palestine City Council, Meals on Wheels board and church secretary. She was a member of the East Texas Council of Governments and the Harvey Woman’s Club. To her family she was mother, friend, artist, crafter, and a beautiful lady
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Howard Calloway. Mrs. Calloway is survived by her children, Durenda Trimble of Mancos, Colo., Dan Dunnahoe of Clovis, N.M. and Duane Dunnahoe of New Iberia, La.; step-children, Judy Thrasher of Houston, Brenda Owens of Palestine, Howard Lynn Calloway of Palestine; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Carroll Graser of Palestine. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
