Memorial services for Harold Arlington Shaver, 78, of Palestine will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Glad Tidings Church with Brother Jesse Calloway officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Shaver died Monday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born July 25, 1933, in Elkhart to Clyde E. and Lula Mae Starr Shaver.  He had lived here all his life and was a retired executive branch manager of 18 years from Trans America. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He loved sports, especially the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.  He was a wonderful father and husband. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dakota; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marilynn Shaver of Palestine; daughters, Melody Tillman and husband Michael of Elkhart and Kelly Tucker and husband Ted of Kilgore; sister, Jenell McNeill of Palestine; eight grandchildren, Kyle Johnson, Adam Moore, Nic Moore, Logan Tucker, Darby Blackford, Rebecca Holcomb, Aaron Tillman and Ryan Tillman; and five great-grandchildren.
