Services for Mrs. N.C. Woolverton, Jr., 50, of Palestine, will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. in First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Leroy Stanton and Ira Gallaway officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Woolverton, the former Janyce Bynum, died Saturday following injuries received in an automobile accident near Corsicana.

She was born in Abilene May 9, 1935, a daughter of Weldon and Opha Gilbreath Bynum of Palestine.

She was the principal of Northside Primary School. A graduate of Palestine High School, she received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master of education degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the Confederacy, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Harvey Woman’s Club, National Honor Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, the East Texas Educator’s Association for the Gifted and Talented and Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Catherine Woolverton of Palestine; son Cameron Woolverton of Palestine; her parents and a sister, Joyce Stuart of Casper, Wyo.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bob Paxton, Melvin Whitaker, Charles Davis, Bill Bible, Charlie Williams, Earl King, Jerry Joyce, Steve Presley, Brent Lemons, Ben Gary Woolverton and Billy Gragg.
