Services for Thomas W. Hunter, 60, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Hunter died Thursday at Trinity Valley Medical Center.
He was born August 13, 1934 in Palestine. A graduate of Palestine High School in 1953 and the University of Houston with a bachelor of arts degree. Mr. Hunter was a consultant for Exxon Oil Corp for 32 years, retiring in 1990. While at Exxon he was in charge of the Exxon Travel Club and was president of the Exxon Employees Club. He was active with the United Way and was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ripley Harold Hunter in 1981; and his first wife, Patricia W. Hunter, in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Kolstad Hunter of Palestine; his mother, Frances Laughlin Hunter of Palestine; daughter, Diane Hunter of Overland Park, Kansas; sons, Thomas K. Hunter, Jr. of Mobile, Ala, and Jeffrey K. Walker of Palestine’ brother Richard L. Hunter of Houston, Ripley Harold Hunter Jr. of Cortemaderaca, California, and James D. Hunter of South Laguna, California.
Pallbearers will be Barrett Broyles, Harry Brown, Johnnie Elfarr, Frank George, Joe Ed Johnston and Raleigh McDonald.
Condolence calls will be received from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Palestine.
