Barbara Ann McClung Garner 1953

Funeral Mass for Barbara Ann McClung Garner, 69, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Zack and Deacon Alex Kobar officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Father Zack officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Garner died Saturday at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.  She was born November 17, 1934 in Palestine to David Dedrick McClung Jr. and Kathryn Daniels McClung.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She worked as the administrator for the Gregg Home for the Aged in Kilgore for over 20 years. She served as officer for the Texas Health Care Association, and Who’s Who in the Nursing Home Administrators, and a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She continued to give to the Rescue Mission of Longview, and numerous other organizations of the community.

Mrs. Garner was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, David D. McClung III.

She is survived by her husband, Clint Garner of Palestine; her mother, Kathryn Callaway of Palestine; a daughter, Karen Garner Lane of Longview; sons, Terry Garner and wife Carol of Palestine, Michael Garner and wife Janel of Longview; a brother, Patrick McClung of Lewisville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Terry Garner, Chris Garner, Clayton Garner, Steve Roberts, Jason Bomer, Chris Bomer, and Jimmy Chasten.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent’s DePaul c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 503 N. Queen St., Palestine, Texas 75801.
