Services for James Donald “Don” Tippen, 67, of Palestine, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Tippen died Thursday in Palestine Regional Medial Center from injuries of a motorcycle accident.
He was born October 17, 1934 in Palestine to Fred and Della Mae Henderson Tippen.
Mr. Tippen was a lifelong resident of Palestine. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1953 and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was retired from Texize Chemical Plant and from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice North Region.
Mr. Tippen is survived by his wife, Marilyn Tippen of Palestine; sons, Jeffrey Tippen of DeSoto and James Donald Tippen II of Palestine; daughter, Jennifer Stricklin of Duncanville; brother, Lloyd Reese Tippen of Palestine; sister, Martha Dodson of Palestine; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Linden Fincher, Hassell Lambright, Duke Waldrop, David Elskes, Tommy Phillips, Jeff Harris, Ricky Frazier and Mike Herrington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Forrest Bomar and Ross Bryant.
