Funeral services for Billy Averitte, 45, of 900 North Cedar, Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hassell & Foster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Potts officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.

Mr. Averitte was pronounced dead on arrival Friday at the Anderson County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.

For 22 years he served as a meteorologist in the Navy, before returning to Palestine three and a half years ago. He was a member of the Palestine Evangelistic Temple.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Henry L. Averitte of Palestine; two brothers, Ronald Averitte of Carrollton and Henry Michael Averitte of Kilgore; two nieces, Amanda Averitte of Kilgore and Rhonda Averitte Wood of West Germany; three nephews; Henry M. Averitte Jr. of Kilgore, Randall Averitte and Darrell Averitte, both of Carrollton.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Woolverton, Bill Rogers, Jon Gregg, Paul Woodard, L.E. Redmon, Nicky Gouras, Tony Dressell and Rayburn Moore.

Designated honorary pallbearers in addition to all other friends of the family are Vernon Smith, T.C. Gregg, A.W. Pettiette, Henry Rose, Charles Wood, Jr. and G.L. Gaines.

Condolence calls will be received at the Averitte residence.
