Services for Jaynie R. Burris, 74, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Elkhart with the Rev. Bill Gernenz and the Rev. Floyd Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mrs. Burris died Saturday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

She was born May 5, 1934 in Hillsboro, to G.E. (Doc) and Lanoe Daniel Boyd. She graduated in 1952 from Palestine High School, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She was employed by Elkhart State Bank for 27 years, and a former director.

Mrs. Burris was lovingly known by her grandchildren as “Greme”, and she always said she was the only “Greme” in the world.

Mrs. Burris was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bobbie Dale.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joe B. Burris of Elkhart; one daughter, Joey Sanders and husband Barrett of Elkhart; one son, Jeffery Boyd Burris and wife Stephanie of Waco; one sister, Brenda Graves and husband Jim of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Jamie McEnturff, Denver Burris and Jackson Burris; and three great-grandchildren, Harleiegh McEnturff, Laci McEnturff and Brandon Parton.

Pallbearers will be Scott Shaver, Stewart Shaver, Bobby Parton, Virgil Williams, Virgil Simpson, Bill Cargill, Brian Wilson, Biff Burris and Raul Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Barrett Sanders, Jim Graves, Roy McClendon, Bob Watson, Elvie Clewis, George Janacek, Ed Wagner and Wesley Taylor.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Elkhart Building Fund.
