James “Jimmy” Carroll Dickey 1952

A celebration of Jim Dickey’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sam Boyd officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Dickey died Friday at his home.
He was born in Palestine on August 17, 1934 to J.C. and Lena Mae Wilson Dickey.
Jim was a graduate of Palestine High School in 1952 and from Texas Christian University where he was a charter member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He officiated high school and college football games throughout the State of Texas for 31 years, and was a lifetime member of the Southwest Football Officials Association.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and in the naval reserves. He was self-employed as a manufacturer’s representative for restaurant equipment in Fort Worth and later retired from the medical department of TDCJ-ID.
Jim was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and served as a Layreader and Chalicer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Lake Frankston; brother, David Dickey and wife Sharon of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Margaret Sue Cobb of Lewisville; sons, Dr. Stephen Howard Dickey and wife Kelly of DeLeon, and John Christopher Dickey and wife Debbie of Keller; daughter, Lara M’Liss Douglas and husband Jim of Fort Worth; mother of his children, Nancy Howard Burford; stepsons Mark Christopher Ellis and wife Sue of Belton, and Cap Ellis and wife Donna of Grapevine. Jim leaves 11 much-loved grandchildren, Mary Katherine Dickey, Will Dickey, Madison Dickey, James Dickey, John Dickey, Maggie Douglas, Mia Douglas, Nicole Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Megan Dickey and Presley Ellis; and a special friend, Mrs. Floy Lowe.
Visitation will be held in the Parish hall following the services.
Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Building Fund.
