Palestine High School Alumni Association

Services for Herb Grimes, 75, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bailey and Foster Chapel with the Rev. Donny Howard and Dr. David Paul Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Grimes died Thursday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born September 9, 1933 in Palestine to Welton and Christine Graves Grimes.

He was a purchasing manager and had worked for Memorial Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a Baptist and member of the North Jackson Baptist Church. Mr. Grimes served as past president of the Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Toni Grimes of Palestine; daughter Valerie Guevara-Grimes and husband Fig Guevara of Hastings, Fla.; sons Bert Grimes and wife Sherre Grimes of Atlanta, Ga., Walter Grimes of Longview; God Son, Jared Zimmerman of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister Dorothy Brooks of Collierville, Tenn.; brother Elbert Grimes of Palestine; three grandchildren, Henry Grimes, Garrett Guevara- Grimes, and Genieve Guevara-Grimes.

Pallbearers will be Robert Grimes, Garry Grimes, Steve Zimmerman, Debra Zimmerman, Bill Copeland and David Eichhorst. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kiwanis Club.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palestine Public Library, 1101 N. Cedar St., Palestine, TX. 75801.
