Services for Howell O. “H.O.” Poff, 65, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Montalba Christian Church with the Revs. Larry Stegall, Sam Cox and Jesse Callaway officiating. Burial will follow in the Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Poff died Tuesday at his residence. He was born July 14, 1934, in Montalba, to Howell Orbria Poff, Sr. and Clara Beatrice Ritchey Poff.
Mr. Poff graduated from Palestine High School in 1952. He was a 25 year veteran of the Palestine Police Department and was the security officer at Palestine High School for 10 years. The last seven years he was a self employed locksmith. Mr. Poff was an Elder of the Montalba Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Arlene Poff Kimbrough, Hallobee Poff Kennedy and Merle Poff.
Mr. Poff is survived by his wife, Sherrill Jenkins Poff of Palestine; a daughter, Mrs. Clay (Jill) Hamil of Montalba; a son, Victor Poff of Palestine; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Walter Hamil, Richard Kocher, Ken Tomblin, John Cathey, Bob Jenkins and Felder G. Gurganus.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Moseley, Dan Cordell, Thomas Vannoy, Dr. Robert McFarlan, Michah Tomblin, Ed Stovall and Buck Kennedy.
Condolence calls wil be received from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at the Poff residence.
