Eddie Lou Sandhop Michel, beloved mother, sister and friend, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at her home in Dallas, Texas.
Born to Inez and Edwin Sandhop, she is survived by her daughter and best friend, Susanne Hilou of Dallas; her brother, John (Buddy) Sandhop and wife Marilyn of Baytown, Texas; her half brother, Edwin Sandhop, Jr. and wife Genevieve of Huntsville, Texas; nephews, John, Stephen and David; and 5 great nieces and great-nephews. She leaves behind 4 adoring pets, Kodi, Midnight, Nero and Tigger and numerous wonderful friends.
Eddie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Education. As a teacher for 28 years, she guided and changed the paths of her students. She touched the lives of all that knew and loved her and will be greatly missed by her friends worldwide.
She had a love and zest for travel; for her “Southern Heritage” (as an active member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas); a passion for fine food and wine and most of all for life itself.
Throughout her “colorful” life and to the bittersweet end, her unyielding acts of courage and bravery served as an inspiration to all.
Per Eddie’s wishes, following cremation, a celebration of her life will be held at her home on Fri., Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. Interment and a memorial service will be at Holly Springs Cemetery in Montalba, Texas on Sat., Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.
