Mitchell “Mitch” Reed Woodard 1952

Mr. Mitchell R. “Mitch” Woodard passed away Friday, January 30, 2004 in Shreveport after a brief illness. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at the Kings Highway Christian Church. Officiating will be Dr. Jeff Timms assisted by Rev. Dave Farmer. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Woodard was a native of Palestine and a resident of Shreveport for 48 years. He was a member of Kings Highway Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder, Trustee, President of the Keystone Class and President of the Service Class. Mitch was a member of the Masons in Palestine, El Karubah Shrine, Shreveport and the Scottish Rites.

He graduated from Palestine High School in 1952 and earned a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M, in 1956.

Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by his son, Mark Edward Woodard; his parents, Mitchell H. and Ima Tompkins Woodard; his wife’s parents, Arch and Mary Caveness and a brother-in-law, Robert E. Caveness.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Caveness Woodard; sister, Jean W. Shiflett of Granbury, Texas; two nieces and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be Frank Bright, B.W. McFerrin, Lou Palmers, Bill Ellis, Jim Monk and Dale Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Joyce Ferguson, Kathryn N. Bancroft and members of KHCC Service Class.

The family requests memorials be made to Kings Highway Christian Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses and staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont. Osborn Funeral Home.
