Services for Ruth Ann Cross Nelson, 61, of Midland and formerly of Palestine will be at 9 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Midland with Rev. Bob Gardner officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Palestine with Rev. George Folmer officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Midland.
Mrs. Nelson died Monday at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Temple on March 1, 1934. She was reared in Palestine and attended Tyler Junior College.
After working several years in Dallas with Hunt Oil Co., she moved to Midland in 1956 and married William R. Nelson. She worked for Bowden Construction in Odessa for 39 years.
Mrs. Nelson had been a member of First Baptist Church in Midland since 1962. She was involved in big Brothers and Big Sisters for many years. She was a supporter of the SPCA and was involved with International Rainbow Order for Girls.
She was preceded in death by her father Cecil Albert Cross of Palestine.
She is survived by her sons, Marc Nelson of Midland and Paul Nelson of Fort Worth; mother, Mary Lee Cross of Palestine; brothers, Bob Cross of Fort Worth and Jim Cross of Dew Island, Oregon; sisters Mary Fuller and Sally Hunnicutt, both of Palestine; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marc Bowman, Manuel Madrid, Larry Prucka, Jim Hunter, Jeff Hunter and Bob Nolan. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Brower, Matt Lookabaugh, Phil Durrett, Joe Windsor and David Windsor.
